Frequent questions

Can I log in on multiple devices?

Yes, you can use PT Mate on as many devices as you like. Your data is automatically synced and stored in the cloud.

How long is the trial period?

You get a 45 day free trial when you sign up with access to all of the app's features. You don't need any credit card and will be downgraded to our free Spark plan when the trial is over unless you subscribe to another plan.

How can I upgrade my subscription?

You can upgrade any time either directly through the app or here on our website. Downgrading or changing from a yearly plan to a monthly one only works when there's less than 30 days left on your current billing period.

How am I charged?

If you subscribed to a plan on your iPhone or iPad, you'll be charged through your Apple Account. If you did it on the website, we'll automatically charge your saved card unless you changed this option. In that case, you'll be sent an invoice to pay through a secure line.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription any time. It won't be cancelled immediately and you can use it until your current billing period ends. This also allows you to reactivate it if you wish to do so before the billing period ends.

I just downgraded to Spark. Is my data lost now?

No, your data is still safely stored on our server. Since you downgraded your plan, you can't access more than 2 clients or programs. Once you update your plan, all of your data will be available to you again.

How do I charge my clients?

You need to enable payments through the app. Then you can charge your clients from your phone. Once a payment is made, your client automatically receives an invoice via email. You can access your invoices in the Billing section as well. Find out more about payments and how to set them up in our Getting Started section.

How do Direct Debits work?

Similar to payments, you can set up direct debits on the app. Your client's saved card will automatically be charged after each billing cycle (weekly, fortnightly or monthly).

Is charging my clients through the app safe?

Yes, absolutely. We're using Stripe to process any payments on the platform. More info about Stripe can be found on their website stripe.com.

Can I pass the processing fee on to my clients?

PT Mate doesn't offer this option at the moment. However, to calculate your final price, you can do the following: [Your Price]/0.9655. As an example: If you charge $100 for a product and you want to receive the full amount, you calculate it as follows: 100/0.9655 = 103.57. So your product's price should be $103.57 in the app (instead of $100).

When do I receive my funds?

Stripe handles payouts into your bank account, and it usually takes a few business days to be processed (Stripe's payout schedule is about two business days). Your first payout might take up to 10 business days after receiving your first payment as your account needs to be set up on Stripe's end.

How can my clients update their payment details?

Your clients can update, add or delete payment methods in the client app. If you need any help, please reach out to us by sending an email to help@ptmate.net. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

How do I get updates?

Updates are pushed through the App Store or Google Play Store. Depending on your phone settings, the app will update automatically. If not, make sure to check from time to time to keep up to date with the latest version.

The app is great. But will there be more features?

We're constantly working on improving PT Mate and adding new features that help you run your business. We created PT Mate to make life easier for personal trainers and to give them a personal assistant. I can't see all my sessions

The app only displays session in the last 30 days. You can log on to the Trainer Portal to get a list of all your clients' sessions.

Can I import clients and data from another platform?

At the moment, you can't sync data from other apps with PT Mate. However, our website allows you to add sessions previously made to your clients. We're constantly working on new features. So if you want this feature to be integrated sooner than later, let us know at feedback@ptmate.net and we can fast track its development :).

Do I need an internet connection?

The app syncs with the cloud database so you need an active internet connection each time you interact with it, such as saving data, creating clients or sessions or making a payment.

Why does the interface not update?

Sometimes, it might be necessary to close and reopen the app for changes to take place. Especially when it comes to subscription updates or payments, you might get uneasy. But don't worry, every change is recorded in our database on the server - it might simply take some time for the changes to be reflected in the user interface.

Making a payment takes forever. Should I be worried?

Short answer: No. Normally, payments or any subscription/direct debit related tasks should execute fairly quickly. However, since the app connects to Stripe, sometimes a delay may occur and it can take up to 1-2 minutes to process. In any case, don't worry, your funds are safe and the payment will be executed correctly.

The app froze or close. What should I do?

This might happen occasionally as it might be a bug we're currently fixing. If it happens, close the app completely (iOS - swipe up, Android tapping the square button and swiping up or left). Then reopen it and it should be working fine again. If the problem persists, please let us know sending an email to help@ptmate.net.
